i’ve seen you perform about an hour from here, and i saw the turn and the back of your neck, and i saw your jawline, an outline of white and i saw your arms holding up your sides like you might split apart if you ever let go. your sweater’s pattern is so softly blurred, colored yarn blends side by side. i noticed an image of a fish in a net, i noticed how your breathing was suddenly short. yesterday i seemed like spring might be here, but i noticed the fog come, right through the boathouse home. the way that your feet fall off the edge of the dock, you’re sitting next to me, so softly blurred. i heard that you’d left town, you’d been here too long, heaviness dwells upon your mornings and nights, when you are all alone thinking too much, i hear what you’re saying about being a crutch. the beats of you speaking are so softly blurred, the words you are saying, are so softly blurred, the colored patterns are so softly blurred.
